In 2020, Rotary Club Of Kisumu visited Kenya Gather a local organization with a mission to empower orphans and women in Turkwell, West Pokot.
Some years ago, West Pokot was hit by guns, cattle rustlings and deep traditions.
Team Kenya Gather is working day and night to build a sustainable community empowerment space for the locals.
Sadly, we still have cases of 11-13 year old girls forced into marriage, women particularly packaged as a source of wealth for dowry and a backward practise of female genital mutilation (FGM) for women to stay loyal to their men,sigh. In addition no basic education.
